Mechanical couplers for splicing of rebar in RCC structures require mandatory testing under IS 16172 — the sole Indian standard governing coupler performance. Microlab is fully equipped to perform all coupler qualification tests including Type 1 (non-seismic), Type 2 (seismic), cyclic loading, and slip measurement. Specimen Logistics for Civil Materials
- Rebar: Supply full-section lengths (minimum 600 mm for tensile, 300 mm for bend). Mark heat/lot number on each specimen.
- Concrete cubes: 150 mm standard cubes, cured per IS 516. Transport in wet hessian/curing compound. Note casting date and mix designation.
- Core samples: Minimum 75 mm diameter for compressive strength. Note extraction location, orientation, and reinforcement presence.
- Aggregates/soil: Representative samples per IS 2430 sampling procedure. Minimum 25 kg for coarse aggregate, 10 kg for fine aggregate.
- Onsite collection: We can arrange sample collection from construction sites within Tamil Nadu. Contact us for scheduling.
